Supervisor/Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training (Ministry of Labor)

In Ontario, both supervisors and workers are required to complete health and safety awareness training to ensure a safe working environment.

Here are some of the main points:

Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness Training

Purpose

This training provides supervisors with a general understanding of their rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and introduces them to workplace health and safety principles.

Content

The training covers the roles and responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and workers, the three core rights of workers, and how to recognize, assess, control, and evaluate workplace hazards.

Format

It can be completed using a workbook or an eLearning module. Upon completion, supervisors receive a “Proof of Completion” certificate.

Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training

Purpose

This training ensures that workers understand their rights and responsibilities and are aware of potential workplace hazards.

Content

It includes information on the duties and rights of workers, the role of the supervisor, and how to work safely.

Format

Similar to the supervisor training, it can be completed through a workbook or an eLearning module. Employers are responsible for ensuring that both supervisors and workers complete this training and maintain records of completion.
